Miss Teen South Carolina-Dumber than a box of rocks

As if I didn't need to be tortured enough by my memories as a high school geography teacher and the ability of the average high school student to find the country of London, youtube has given us this fabulous moment. She states in her answer to the question as to why one out of five Americans cannot find the US on the map (I'm don't believe this is true) : "I personally believe that US Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don't have maps and I believe that our education that such as south African and Iraq and such as and I believe that our education over here should help in the US should help the US or should help South Africa or should help Iraq and the south asian countries so we will be able to build up our future."

Now it isn't really that troubling to most of us that a beauty queen would have the mind of a turnip. Although some studies have indicated that better looking people are smarter, I believe the actual conclusion is that better looking people are more confident, appear smarter, and therefore people are fooled into believe they are smarter. Hence the unflagging confidence of talking heads on CNN like the mildly retarded Glenn Beck.

The most troubling thing about this story is not that Ms. Carolina is dumb as a post, it's that 1) she tried to bullshit her way out of it with nonsense, which points to an ever-greater tendency on the part of Americans to use obfuscation to appear intelligent (even beauty queens are doing it) and 2) the fact that most people will not question the statistic that one in five Americans can't find the US on the map.

I have yet to find any study that provides evidence of this statistic. In fact, I'm of the opinion that the reader of the question, who looked like a dingbat herself, read the question wrong. It was probably supposed to be "one in five Americans can't find IRAQ on the map" which would be explained by the recent article on CNN.COM.

Since Ms. Carolina began talking about Iraq, it almost sounds as if she was given the question beforehand, along with the answer, and the reader flubbed it. This may be a greater conspiracy than that of Israel blowing up the WTC. (which you can watch on jewtube.com, the prime purveyor of misinformation for infidels). I want government action. Forget Gonzalez and Rove and their subversion of the constitution. This is important!!!
